You seem to forget that these power rankings are as of this point in time and not as of April 2020. I am fine with 15/16 playoff teams being ranked right now and then weeks into the season when we see how teams perform they get readjusted.

How is the team with the single best player in the NHL not considered a top 16 team? I know that one player, even the best player, cannot carry a team at the highest level, but he has pieces around him and the team finished last season strong. This will be a team people are talking about next season.

To answer this all one has to look at is last season. Why did they finish strong? I would argue that it was because Sekera started to play well towards the end of the season which is why it is still mind boggling that he was bought out? I think since the Hall trade its been shown that CM and LD can't do it all. They absolutely need help and since Kenny H didn't give them any I have a hard time seeing how they are better this year? I am curious to see how the DT hiring affects the overall play of the team, but is DT anymore of a defensive guru than Hitchcock? I wouldn't say so... but we'll see?
